I am a Counselling Psychologist registered as an independent psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF). My practice is based at the tranquil Satori Health Centre in Garsfontein, Pretoria. I provide psychotherapy and assessments to adults, adolescents, and children. In addition to this, I conduct medico-legal assessments at Equilibrium Forensic Psychology.
I have extensive experience in working with diversity and in a variety of context’s, both professionally in my work experience and in my volunteer work. I have volunteered as a counsellor and facilitator in organisations such as The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), Lifeline, Cresset House (residential and work facility for adults with intellectual disabilities) and the Victim Empowerment Centre (VEC) at the South African Police Service (SAPS). Beyond psychology, I have worked with both families and within the work environment in various capacities, thereby acquiring various skills and giving me understanding and experience of greater industry.
While working and volunteering, I completed my Bachelor of Arts (Health Sciences and Social Services) and Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology through the University of South Africa. I went on to do my Masters in Counselling Psychology degree through the University of Pretoria. During my masters training, I provided psychotherapy and assessments for adults and minors at various locations. Further, during my training I was also part of a team who designed and implemented a community group intervention to address trauma exposure in children and adolescents within the Pretoria area.
I believe that although people have many important overlapping similarities, we are also unique in our individuality and circumstances and as such, I work from an integrative approach and tailor my therapeutic approach and interventions to fit the unique needs of my clients. I also believe in the resilience and ability of people to overcome various challenges and difficulties, and I aim to assist by providing my professional services in a warm, safe and empathic environment.
